Me and my hun went to the fantasy fair last weekend and bought some fun stuff. A new coat for me, a parasol, dress, bracelet and … some torture device they call a corset.
Now, I’ve seen Pirates of the Carribean and know that you shouldn’t put those things on too tight (mind you…my girl. Not on myself). Still, the salespeople told us someone ended up fainting after putting it on too tight. Something with Darwin comes to mind.
Anyway, even though it’s fun to pull her strings and torturing her by making sure she can’t get out of it by putting it on quite tight, it produces a more troublesome issue: the corset is hard and isn’t cuddly, being quite annoying to me. A girl should be cuddly and not some hard thing under her clothes (apart from those obvious things).
So, girls who scream to burn bra’s…wear a corset and your boyfriends may very well start burning those instead. Cuddly is important factor y’know.

I’ve installed Vista…again. The first time around, I downright hated it. I like having matters in my own hands, so network configuration annoys me to no end, along with the fact that because the "welcome screen" can’t be turned off into the good old logon screen, which disables adversaries from finding all user accounts.
Guess what! I STILL hate it. It still has the same network discovery nonsense (I’m at "network place 23" by now), I still can’t turn off the welcome screen, the virtual machine blew up and Nessus still finds holes and the UAC still whines about everything and it still has trouble with drivers (try making WMP use a different driver than DirectSound)! I have bought a new laptop a while ago and threw Vista off the minute it came in and installed my good ol’ XP Pro. I’ve seen some of the promo’s for Windows 7 (Vienna), but I’m not convinced yet. But as the saying goes: Don’t talk trash about stuff you haven’t tried yet. So I’m waiting for Windows 7 to turn "gold", try it out and make a fair decision. However, I suspect that most experts will say the same thing as they did with XP and Vista: Wait until SP1 before even considering to change.

I’ve been stalling posting here for quite a while again, so it’s time to catch up with this thing again. More so, because I renewed my webhosting last week.
First of all, I’ve kicked off Tibia altogether. I simply can’t put myself to it anymore. I do keep in touch with some friends from the place, but don’t see myself playing anymore. And with that said, I’ve moved everywhere and nowhere, playing more games than is really sane. But finally I have arrived at this weird game from some French business called Dofus.
And then I fall in the trap of getting in yet another MMORPG. I never seem to learn. And without too much fancy footwork, I find myself in some kind of rank once again. I just never learn. And Tibia is a well coded program in comparison, IMHO.

Today has been a bit different. Yes, I know the song from yesterday is an annoying and loud sound thingy that is claimed to be music. I personally don’t like the song, which is the whole reason it’s there.
Now to the point where today has been different. Not a single person had a login problem, which is quite noticable in the stats and the amount of coffee I drank today. Unfortunately, someone decided it’d be a good idea to send 1.33GB to a printer which clogged up the entire queue. Aside from where the hell that user got that disk space from (I can already figure), the mere fact that someone thinks a printer just parses away with that stuff is mind boggling. I also wonder what the heck was 1.33GB anyway. Just for comparison:
- A text file: Usually 1kb or 2. No more than 64kb. (notepad restriction)
- An internet picture: 1kb (Nullfix logo!) to 250kb. Lightweight is key.
- A professional picture: Around 512kb up to 5mb, depending on compression and camera.
- A movie: Depending on length and quality, between 20mb and 700mb.
- My entire C&C Tiberium Wars folder: 1.33GB
Considering it was one file, I can only suspect that someone was trying to print a house…full size. For some reason, Peanut’s quote comes to mind: “WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?”

I’ve been holding my latest job for the third week now. Considering my colleagues went on vacation one week after another for three weeks, along with the fact that I only have two, I’m sitting pretty much alone in a large hall. Although I could turn the radio on, I’m too lazy to turn it on plus it would only be a waste of energy because I really don’t notice whether it’s on or off.
Even though user problems tend to be an interesting selection from the /dev/random pool, the time of specific problems are pretty much the same. Leaving aside the regular trip to the coffee machine, the day runs something like this.
- Boot system, log in, open up consoles (especially the user management tool).
- Take calls from users who can’t log in anymore (password expiry, account expiry).
- Take calls from users with random calls. Usually phones or printers.
- Lunch.
- Nap.
- Go home.
Although I don’t actually take a nap, there is plenty of time for it considering people get to “business as usual” in the noon. And when Iget this strange urge to turn on the radio, it may sound something like this. (WARNING! DO NOT CLICK BEFORE TURNING SOUND DOWN!)
Seriously…that doesn’t ensure a good nap for me.

I’m member of Warrior Nation. In Eudemons Online, the richest legion of the server. Unfortunately, even though the legion lives on, the parent of the legion (the actual Warrior Nation) has cut off the legion.
So far so good. Site removes affiliation with game and legion, remove game from the lists…done. Wrong.
The attribute lives on in the profile of me and my fiancee. As of such, we can keep signing the game as present (even though we are the only ones left). The whole place doesn’t support it anymore and it isn’t shown in my profile anymore if I try to change it…but if I don’t, it’s there.
I guess it can be called an unwanted side-effect of the system that be, but I just call it the Attribute of Loss and continue being a wildcard in the grand design. I love coding mistakes.

You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker; and do not accept others’ statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.

Tired when people are just peeking at your surroundings when you tell them where you live?
Go live in Schoonhoven, the Netherlands! There is absolutely no military stuff around there, nothing to be crossed out…but half the place is made unrecognisable. Happy living.

Oh god, it’s the ol’ theme again. Yes, I know. I just felt nostalgic.
