Note to self: Do not hold horn above hook. If dropped during a lengthy (and utterly useless) troubleshooting session of the tech support of the manufacturer, things may get out of hand in a hurry.
I know I’ve been working out, but handling the Dell XPS M2010, which weighs about 18.3 lbs (about 8.3 kg for you metric people), such as flipping it upsidedown to handle the battery is just stupid. Note that these guys actually call it a laptop, which I find very hard to agree to. Not only does the weight and size of the thing require it to have a leather/foam handle (it’s the foot of the screen if you’re looking) to carry it around with, but the keyboard comes loose too as it is only held back by the clamps on the topside and some weak clips on the middle of the “laptop”.
The clamps of the laptop are electric, meaning that if you lose power, it will not close and will cause the keyboard to just fall off if you then pick it up considering the clips that hold the keyboard from the inside are not strong enough to hold the weight of the bluetooth keyboard. The only actual reason I can figure for someone to get this, is to have the “mine is bigger than yours” factor. I quite like my back in one piece and stick to a normal system or an actual laptop. Not some thing that does a poor try to be both.
And yet…some people use it. At least their secretary has me all figured out. So here’s her quote about me: You don’t seem like the kind of person who listens to Frans Bauer. NO KIDDING!
